The annual Cotton Art Show was held on the early May Bank Holiday this year in order to avoid clashing with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the village. The Saturday evening cheese and wine Preview was crowded with people looking at another fine collection of art in all forms and media. Sales were reasonably brisk considering the current tough economic times.

A large bouquet of flowers was presented by the FCC Chairman, Alan Couldridge, to the shows’ curator, Judith Hamp, on her retirement from this annual labour of love and in recognition of her tireless work and relationships with the many artists.

During the weekend the work of the Featured Artist, Reg Siger, was a particularly popular display as was the historic display of local paintings by John Bonny, buried in the churchyard of Cotton’s church, St. Andrews. The poor weather and heavy cloud combined to reduce the number of visitors on the Sunday but bright sunshine on the Monday brought out a large number of visitors to this always top class display of enjoyable art.
